Music @ University Fellowship
When Christians gather as a community, one of the ways we worship God together is through music. While the Bible tells us to sing and gives us guidance as to the substance and purpose of our songs, there is no prescription given for style, structure, volume, or instrumentation. These are not matters of salvation or theological correctness, but of culture, era and personal preference. As a result, music varies widely between churches. The music that University Fellowship uses to worship God will reflect what we value and the fact that we have been placed in the University Neighborhood of Eugene, OR, circa 2011. While we will draw from the rich history of the Christian faith, our music will be unique to who we are as a church for this time and place.
University Fellowship is a relatively new church and we intentionally started with a band and music that is simple. As we have grown, we have involved more people in the process, and may eventually have several different bands. If you are interested and play guitar, bass, drums, percussion, piano, keyboard, violin, saxophone, sing or play another instrument and are comfortable playing from a chord chart (not sheet music), use the contact form at the bottom of this page to send me your name, phone number, email address, what instrument you play (or if you want to run the sound or powerpoint), and what experience you have. We’ll figure out where to go from there.
